Antique Victorian Water Opal Riviere Collar Necklace
A spectacular late 19th century, 15ct yellow gold and ‘Jelly’ or water cabochon opal necklace, showcasing approx. 30 carats of beautifully matched opals with magical plays of colour with electric blues, purples and greens with the highly sought after red, set in masterfully crafted coronet settings. Circa 1880.
- Opals: the largest opal measures 11.6mm x 13.8mm x 4.1mm, with a further fourteen opals of decreasing size to the smallest 5.6mm x 6.9mm x 3mm.
- Necklace Length: 14.75” (375mm) extender can be added upon request
- Length of gem set area: 180mm
- Hallmark: Clasp marked ’15ct’ and tested throughout as 15ct gold using a touchstone
- Gross weight: 14.2 grams
- Condition: Very good to excellent overall wear commensurate with age and use. The opals have small surface wear but are crazing, crack and chip free. The clasp opens and closely securely with all links in good order
